MBIC Funding Request: The Missouri Beef Industry Council (MBIC) is a nonprofit organization responsible for administering programs of promotion, education, research, and consumer and industry information. The MBIC is part of a coordinated state and national effort funded and controlled by beef producers who are assessed $1-per-head each time a beef animal is sold (checkoff dollars). Half of each dollar is forwarded to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board (CBB) and the other half of the dollar is retained by the Missouri Beef Industry Council to fund state-based programs, which complement and extend the industry-wide effort. Checkoff dollars are overseen by state and national organizations and administered by the United States Department of Agriculture. Only projects that meet the criteria and fulfill the mission of the organization can be awarded. MBIC’s priorities are intended to drive beef’s demand through: Promoting and strengthening beef's value proposition. Growing consumer trust in beef and beef production. Protecting and enhancing the business climate for beef. Driving growth in beef exports. Applicants will be required to provide information on how their funding request fulfills priorities defined by MBIC and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
