Q&A with the Worthingtons

We believe the beef industry, while challenging is also very rewarding. It is those challenges that give us a reason to get up every day seeking a better way to produce the worlds protein.

Meet Your Rancher: The Worthingtons

Give a Brief Description of your farming operation.

We operate an Angus seedstock operation with two production sales each year at our farm. We are a total AI and ET program and utilize all of the tools and technology available. We employ a disciplined breeding philosophy with proven genetics to create value for our customers and the beef industry. We breed cattle that calve easily, grow rapidly to an end point and produce the highest quality carcass possible while leaving a set of replacement females that can not only replicate the process, but improve upon it. Our goal is to provide our commercial bull customers with the breeding tools they need to add value to their operations. We work diligently in marketing customer cattle to ensure they reap the most reward possible from their genetic investment.

Why are you passionate about the beef industry?

We believe the beef industry, while challenging is also very rewarding. It are those challenges that give us a reason to get up every day seeking a better way to produce the worlds protein. We are passionate about utilizing genetic advancement made possible by technology and tools in our industry to improve the quality of beef and provide the consumer with a favorable eating experience every time. We work to accomplish that mission in the most efficient way possible while also creating a sustainable path forward for the next generation on our farm. Doing this in the face of adversity is what passion is really about and you can rest assured we are passionate about our industry. It is a business that requires you to constantly be learning how to do something better, more efficiently in order to be successful.

What do you want consumers to know about you and your farm?

I hope consumers recognize that while we are a small family farm and work diligently to produce a safe and nutritious product that we are not unique in that. All of agriculture both large and small operations work to produce the highest quality products at an affordable price and that we are blessed in this country with abundant, safe food supplies. It requires small and large farms and ranches to produce our part of the world's food supply and we do that better than any other place on earth. I want consumers to know that they can confidently purchase food and beef at a farmers market or the largest grocery store and know that they are buying a safe product for their family regardless of where they may choose to purchase it.

What is one of your favorite beef meals or recipes?

We are simple, we live on and love a great Certified Angus Beef steak. Can't go wrong with that level of consistency and quality. Grill it medium rare and that's all we need.
