May is Beef Month - Plan Ahead to Promote, Educate, and Celebrate!

May is National Beef Month, a time to celebrate Missouri’s thriving beef industry and the hardworking producers who bring quality beef from pasture to plate. With over 53,000 farms and 4.3 million cattle, Missouri has plenty to be proud of.

Here’s how you can take part in the celebration:

Get Involved – There are plenty of ways to celebrate beef this May! Kick things off with a Beef Proclamation event alongside Governor Mike Kehoe at the beginning of the month. On May 2, MBIC will be at Busch Stadium, engaging with Cardinals fans about the importance of beef. If you’re near Polk County, don’t miss Missouri Beef Days from May 3-10, a full week of events celebrating the state’s beef industry.

Beyond in-person events, we’re taking the celebration online with digital campaigns highlighting beef’s impact on health, sustainability, and local economies. Wrapping up the month, through a partnership with Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska beef councils (QSBCs), we will be hosting our bi-annual “Nutrition Adventure” event. This event provides us with the opportunity to connect with nutritionists from all across the nation, sharing conversations on the healthfulness of beef.

No matter where you are, there’s an occasion to celebrate, learn and share “the beef story” in a way that is meaningful to you.

Advocate – Share your beef story online, highlight sustainability efforts, and showcase your favorite cuts on the grill.

Educate – Help bridge the gap between farmers and consumers by hosting a cookout, speaking to students, or sharing beef facts. MBIC has grants available to support advocacy events.

Give Back – Mentor a young producer, support local cattlemen’s groups, or simply surprise a neighbor with a home-cooked beef meal.

Join the fun and make this Beef Month one to remember!
