Missouri Rib Rub

Missouri, is known for St. Louis-style barbecue. This rub is perfect for beef roasts or any steak. It's hint of sassafras, from gumbo filé, is used to enhance the beef flavor.

Cook Mode

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
  • 1 tablespoon granulated onion
  • 1 tablespoon gumbo filé
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika

Cooking:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl; press evenly onto beef steak(s).
  2. Grillpan-broil or broil steaks; place roast in oven and cook according to chart. Cook to medium rare (145°F) to medium (160°F) doneness.
