Executive Director - Job Highlights 

The Missouri Beef Industry Council (MBIC) is a non-profit organization working on behalf of Missouri's beef and dairy farmers and ranchers. The Missouri Beef Industry Council administers the Beef Checkoff program in Missouri which funds promotion, education and research programs. our vision is to have a strong and viable beef industry in Missouri. Our mission is to improve the demand for beef. our priority is to promote and strengthen beef's value proposition, grow consumer trust in beef and beef production, protect and enhance the business climate for beef, and drive growth in beef exports. 


The Executive Director position, in partnership with the Board of Directors, provides leadership within the beef industry and represents the Missouri Beef Industry Council at state and national functions. The Executive Director is responsible for all operational and budgetary functions of the organization. 


The Executive Director position requires a self-motivated, confident leader who is a strong communicator and has intuitive people skills. The ideal candidate should be able to work effectively with all personality types and has the ability to collaborate with, influence and motivate stakeholders and staff. This position also requires strong organizational skills. 


Key Responsibilities 

These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities will be requires and/or assigned. 

  • Directly supervise staff members and provide leadership for operations, budgets and administration of MBIC and its' programs. 
  • Coordinate an annual audit and develop a yearly budget. 
  • Monitor, with oversight from the Board of Directors and MBIC staff, the Beef Checkoff collection system for Missouri, including development of collection procedures consistent with the Beef Promotion and Research Act and Order. 
  • Maintain contact and effective working relationships with all stakeholders in the beef industry. 
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to industry, civic, and private groups. 
  • Represent MBIC at state and national events. 
  • Provide monthly updates to the Board of Directors on the progress of projects and MBIC business. 

Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business, marketing or a related field. 
  • Successful experience in some facet of the cattle and beef industry. 
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people in a positive manner. 
  • Prior experience in partnering with a board of directors preferred. 
  • Budget and operations management experience. 
  • Strong communications skills. 
  • Strong organizational, time management, prioritization skills and detailed oriented. 
  • Encouraged to reside in proximity of the Columbia, Missouri area. 
  • Compensation will be based on prior experience. 
    • Range in compensation; $80,000 to $120,000
