The Missouri Beef Industry Council is a nonprofit organization responsible for administering programs of promotion, education, research, and consumer and industry information.
Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization that provides free food, nutrition education and innovative programs proven to reduce food insecurity. With a strategic focus aimed at ending childhood hunger, OFS empowers families and increases access to healthy and affordable food. The agency provides food and services to 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of whom are children – through a network of 330 community partners in 27 Missouri and Illinois counties and the city of St. Louis.
Dierbergs took root in 1854 when a general merchant exchange opened on Olive Street Road, just east of where Highway 270 crosses Olive today. The store sold kerosene, flour, sugar, seasonings, boots and shoes, fabric and clothing, hardware and other staples. It was a reflection, much like Dierbergs stores today, of the demands and needs of its customers.
The Illinois Beef Association (IBA) is a service based non-profit organization that strives to be the foundation of a profitable and sustainable beef industry.
The Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) was formed in 1984 after a referendum was passed to establish a one-half cent per bushel corn checkoff. Missouri growers voted in 2008 to increase the checkoff to one cent per bushel, strengthening investments in the development and expansion of corn markets, educating customers and exploring new research opportunities. MCMC is an organization of corn growers dedicated to the profitability of corn production by investing checkoff dollars in the development and expansion of corn markets, facilitating communication with growers and customers, and utilization research.
Missouri Farm Bureau Federation is organized from the grassroots up, with an office in every county in the state. Each county has its own officers and Board of Directors, and MOFB’s policy positions start at the county level. While some counties also contain additional insurance sales offices, these federation offices serve as the official headquarters for each county Farm Bureau chapter.
St. Clair County Farm Bureau was organized on February 17, 1919 at a meeting held at the Liederkranz Hall in Belleville. The initial membership was 431 members and was governed, like today, by a nine-member board. It was originally organized for the purpose of soil and crop improvement.
